Checking Out

Today is one of those days where I just mentally check out. It’s not that there’s anything wrong, but I’ve done a lot of floating around. I think it’s the change in weather. I went out in the not-freezing temperatures and stood in my backyard for thirty minutes. If my brain were present, I would have been garden-planning for spring. But as-was I just stood there, looking at the bulbs that are coming up in the backyard, and the not-yet-melted glacier still living in the shadow of the fence. I want to believe it’s spring already, but I know I’m going to be betrayed.
